IPS officer Shamsher Singh, a 1991-batch officer, has been prematurely repatriated to Gujarat from his deputation with the Border Security Force (BSF). He was serving as Additional Director General with the BSF since January 2025. His return makes him the seniormost IPS officer in the Gujarat cadre serving within the state. This repatriation follows the interim appointment of K Laxminarayan Rao as Gujarat's interim Director General of Police after the retirement of Vikas Sahay.
