The Bombay High Court acquitted all 12 individuals accused in the 2006 Mumbai train bombings, citing the prosecution's failure to prove the case and deeming confessional statements inadmissible. The Maharashtra government has appealed this decision to the Supreme Court, which has stayed the acquittal but allowed the accused to remain free. Separately, a special court acquitted seven individuals, including Pragya Singh Thakur and Col Prasad Purohit, in the 2008 Malegaon bomb blast case due to insufficient evidence.
