A 31-year-old militant of the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I), self-styled 2nd Lieutenant Bitul Baruah, surrendered to security forces in Arunachal Pradesh's Tirap district. Acting on credible intelligence, a joint operation by the Assam Rifles, CRPF, and police persuaded Baruah to lay down arms in the Horu Chinghan area. Authorities recovered a .40 calibre pistol and ammunition. Officials highlighted the role of intelligence and negotiation in the surrender and reaffirmed their commitment to regional peace and encouraging militants to reintegrate.
