The Kerala High Court initially imposed a 15-day interim stay on the release of 'The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond' citing concerns that the film's teaser and content could disturb communal harmony and alleging the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) did not properly apply guidelines. The court directed the CBFC to re-examine the film. The producers appealed, arguing the film portrays a social issue without denigrating Kerala or any community. Subsequently, a division bench lifted the stay, allowing the film's release, while reserving detailed judgment. Despite the stay, ticket bookings briefly continued online but were later refunded, and the film was not screened during the stay period.
