
Andhra Pradesh's Telugu Desam Party government has created two new districts, Polavaram and Markapuram, increasing the total to 28. This administrative change aims to improve governance, service delivery, and regional development. Polavaram district was formed from parts of Alluri Sitharama Raju district to aid villages affected by the irrigation project, while Markapuram district was carved from Prakasam district to address drought-prone farming areas facing groundwater scarcity.
