New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani has penned a letter to activist Umar Khalid, currently detained in Delhi's Tihar Jail under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Mamdani's letter, which surfaced recently, expressed solidarity and recalled a meeting with Khalid's parents. This follows Mamdani's previous public support for Khalid, including reading from his prison writings at a New York event. Earlier, eight US lawmakers had also written to the Indian Ambassador regarding Khalid's detention.
