AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has criticized the Congress party, attributing the denial of bail to activists Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam to the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Owaisi stated that the UAPA was enacted during a Congress government and amended with Congress support, arguing it is used against Muslims, Dalits, and intellectuals. He contrasted this with the Supreme Court granting bail to five others in the 2020 Delhi riots case, citing a "hierarchy of participation".
