The Punjab government has reduced stamp duty rates for property registrations in Mohali's cooperative societies, benefiting approximately 5,000 to 7,000 families. Registrations completed by January 31 attract a 1% stamp duty, increasing to 2% in February and 3% in March. Exemptions from SIC, PIDB, and SIDF charges apply, while a 1% registration fee remains. MLA Kulwant Singh highlighted measures to address delays, including appointing special registrars to expedite registrations when societies delay mandatory documents.
