India plans to conduct its first nationwide Adult Skills Survey in 2026 to assess the basic, intermediate, and advanced competencies of citizens aged 18 and above. The survey, requested by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, aims to provide policymakers with data to align skilling policies with actual workforce capabilities, addressing identified skill gaps and low educational attainment. The survey's duration and framework are still under discussion, but it is expected to offer a clearer picture of employability and workforce readiness.
