The Indian government has eased approval procedures for certain bilateral agreements and MoUs without significant financial or security implications. Such international instruments signed during official visits by the Prime Minister or foreign heads of state now require only Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) clearance, with reporting to the Union Cabinet within six months. However, agreements involving security concerns must still receive Cabinet Committee on Security approval. This change aims to streamline processes and reduce procedural delays.
