The Republican Party of India (Athawale) will contest 20 seats in the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections and support Mahayuti candidates on the remaining 207 seats. Union Minister Ramdas Athawale stated his party's decision to remain with the ruling Mahayuti alliance, despite initial concerns about seat allocation. The BMC elections, for a 227-member body, are scheduled for January 15, with results expected on January 16. The Mahayuti aims to secure a majority in the polls.
