Telangana IPS Officer B Sumathi Leads Efforts in Maoist Leaders' Surrender

B Sumathi, head of Telangana Police's Special Intelligence Branch, played a key role in persuading top Maoist leaders, including Central Committee member Thippiri Tirupati alias Devuji, to surrender and rejoin the mainstream. The surrender, witnessed by Telangana DGP B Shivadhar Reddy, followed extensive negotiations and intelligence efforts. Over the past two years, Sumathi has overseen the surrender of 591 Maoist cadres, with police highlighting the strategic approach to encourage leaders to give up arms rather than face arrest or encounter.
