Maharashtra to Form Expert Panel for AI SOPs Amid Facial Recognition Concerns
The Maharashtra government announced it will form an expert committee within 30 days to draft standard operating procedures (SOPs) for artificial intelligence (AI) use, aiming to contribute to the national AI policy. This follows opposition concerns over a facial recognition system installed in the Vidhan Bhavan without consent. Home Minister Yogesh Kadam stated existing laws address privacy violations by AI devices and that security personnel will be trained to manage such technologies.
