The Bombay High Court has directed the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) to expedite the resolution of grievances for Mumbai's slum dwellers. The court expressed concern over delays in transit rent payments, permanent housing, and illegal occupation of flats, noting a lack of effective mechanisms. A Special Cell has been ordered to address these issues promptly. The SRA has since issued circulars forming these cells and outlining procedures, including freezing part of a developer's free-sale component as security for transit rent.
