A Mumbai sessions court acquitted Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut in a defamation case filed by BJP leader Kirit Somaiya's wife, Medha Somaiya, who accused him of making baseless allegations about a Rs 100 crore scam involving public toilet construction in Mira-Bhayander. Raut was previously convicted by a magistrate court and sentenced to 15 days in jail, but he appealed the ruling. The sessions court allowed his plea, with the detailed order pending. Medha Somaiya's legal team plans to appeal the acquittal in the Bombay High Court.
