Media Bodies Call for Appointment of New Press Council of India Chairperson

Media associations have urged the government to appoint a new chairperson for the Press Council of India, which has been without one since Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai's tenure ended on December 16, 2025. The 15th Council remains incomplete, with key appointments pending, including editors and working journalists. Currently, 14 members have been appointed, but without a chairperson, the council's full constitution cannot proceed. This marks the first time in its history the council lacks a chairperson.
