The Congress-VBA alliance for the Mumbai BMC polls faces a setback as the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) cannot field candidates for 16 allocated seats due to a shortage of suitable nominees. The VBA, initially allotted 62 seats, will contest 46, returning the remaining to Congress. Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant stated such seat adjustments are common in alliances. The Congress has announced 143 candidates, with the alliance collectively contesting 195 seats across parties.
