
Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh highlighted the 'Purple Revolution' that began with lavender cultivation in Bhaderwah, Doda district, Jammu and Kashmir, as a successful Himalayan model of startups and entrepreneurship. This initiative has expanded to other Himalayan states and the Northeast, fostering startups based on local resources, scientific innovation, and sustainable livelihoods. Addressing National Startup Day at CSIR-IIIM, Singh noted India's growth into the world's third-largest startup ecosystem, with over 200,000 startups, including 60,000 to 70,000 led by women, reflecting inclusive growth under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.
