
Senior IPS officer Sadanand Date, a 1990-batch officer, has been appointed as the new Director General of Police (DGP) for Maharashtra. Date, who previously served as the Director General of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and is recognized for his role during the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, will assume charge on January 3. His appointment is for a fixed two-year term, irrespective of his retirement date. He brings extensive experience from various state and central agencies, including the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and the CBI.
