The Telangana government has paid ₹3,593.17 crore towards electricity bills for 52.82 lakh beneficiaries under the Gruha Jyoti Scheme. Launched in March 2024, the scheme provides up to 200 units of free electricity monthly to lower-income groups and ration card holders. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka stated that over 2.5 million beneficiaries are served by the Southern Power Distribution Company and over 2.7 million by the Northern Power Distribution Company.
