Punjab Allocates Rs 1,010 Crore for Flood Relief and Disaster Mitigation

The Punjab government allocated Rs 1,010 crore in the 2025-26 budget for disaster relief and mitigation following last year's floods. Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema highlighted the launch of India's first fully digital Flood Relief System, enabling rapid geo-tagged surveys and direct online transfers to affected families, reducing delays. The government also enhanced administrative efficiency by upgrading subdivisions and tehsil complexes to support responsive governance and comprehensive river assessments post-floods.
