Himachal Pradesh Introduces FASTag at Select Inter-State Toll Barriers with Revised Rates

Himachal Pradesh's State Taxes and Excise Department has introduced FASTag-enabled digital toll collection at six high-traffic inter-state barriers, including Parwanoo, Mehatpur, and Swarghat, to reduce congestion and streamline payments. The vehicle classification system has been expanded from six to eight categories to align with the National Highways Authority of India’s software. New toll rates, effective April 1, range from Rs 30 to Rs 900 based on vehicle type, replacing previous charges of Rs 70 to Rs 720. The rollout aims to improve traffic flow, especially during peak tourist seasons.
