
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan initiated the first controlled rock blast for the 8.73-km Anakkampoyil-Kalladi-Meppadi tunnel road project connecting Kozhikode and Wayanad districts. Funded by the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board at Rs 2,134.5 crore, the project aims to reduce travel time and ease transportation challenges. Executed by Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd and constructed by Dilip Buildcon Ltd, it received Stage-II environmental clearance permitting forest land diversion under strict conditions to protect ecology.
