Lt Gen Sandeep Jain Becomes Vice-Chief; Lt Gen Rajesh Pushkar Assumes Southern Command
Lieutenant General Sandeep Jain has assumed the role of Vice-Chief of Army Staff, succeeding Lieutenant General Rajesh Pushkar, who took command of the Southern Command. Both officers have extensive military careers spanning over four decades, with diverse operational, command, and staff experience. Lt Gen Pushkar, an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, has led key formations including the 2 Corps during Operation Sindoor and held international assignments. Lt Gen Jain has commanded units in counter-insurgency and UN missions, reflecting broad operational expertise.
