Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced that approximately 300 houses for victims of the Wayanad landslides will be handed over in February. These homes are part of a larger township project on Elston Estate land, designed to provide a dignified life with essential facilities including an underground electricity network, water supply, health center, and community spaces. The project emphasizes safety, quality, and sustainability, with rigorous testing and independent verification of construction materials. Around 1,600 workers are involved in the rapid construction, which includes individual solar power plants and water storage for each house.
