
India and Pakistan exchanged lists of their nuclear installations and civilian prisoners on January 1, continuing long-standing confidence-building measures despite strained bilateral relations. The nuclear site exchange, mandated by a 1988 agreement, marks the 35th consecutive year. India also urged Pakistan to expedite the release of 167 Indian prisoners and fishermen, while sharing details of 391 Pakistani nationals in its custody. Pakistan provided information on 58 Indian prisoners and 199 fishermen.
