A Karnataka government panel has recommended merging state-level schemes into central programs like MGNREGA and PMGSY to avoid duplication and improve fund management. The committee also advised against launching new projects indefinitely and suggested closing or merging around 1,000 inactive schemes. These recommendations aim to streamline financial management and address an estimated revenue shortfall of Rs 10,000-15,000 crore ahead of the state budget.
