
The Supreme Court on February 25, 2026, stayed the trial in a money laundering case against Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren. A bench led by Chief Justice Surya Kant issued notice to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Soren's plea seeking to quash the case and challenging repeated summonses. The case relates to Soren's alleged involvement in a land scam. Earlier, the Jharkhand High Court had refused to quash the case, allowing proceedings to continue in a special MP-MLA court.
