Jaishankar stated India has the right to defend itself against terrorism, particularly from Pakistan and Bangladesh, asserting that nations cannot expect cooperation while sponsoring terrorism. Speaking at an IIT Madras event, he emphasized that persistent terrorism negates the possibility of good neighborliness and that India will exercise its right to self-defense as it deems fit. Jaishankar highlighted the unacceptability of a country deliberately continuing terrorism while seeking cooperation.
