
The Delhi High Court, responding to reports of homeless patients and attendants suffering near major hospitals amid cold-wave conditions, directed authorities to provide adequate night shelters. It ordered the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board to utilize subways and other spaces near hospitals like AIIMS, RML, and Safdarjung for shelter. The court emphasized the government's duty to ensure shelter as a fundamental right and mandated a meeting of key stakeholders to devise and implement a short-term plan promptly. Several agencies and hospitals were impleaded to address the crisis comprehensively.
