Muslim vendors were again denied permission to set up stalls at the Kanifnath Yatra festival in Madhi, Maharashtra, despite a Bombay High Court stay on a 2025 gram sabha resolution banning them. The village administrator, former sarpanch Sanjay Markad, maintained the ban, rejecting applications from Muslim vendors. The festival, held annually during Holi, is traditionally attended by vendors from various communities. Some local BJP members and Hindu residents opposed the exclusion of Muslim vendors.
