Delhi Launches Underground Wiring and Power Modernization Projects in Chandni Chowk

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated a Rs 160 crore project to shift 52.5 km of overhead electricity wires underground across 28 streets in Chandni Chowk, aiming to enhance safety, reliability, and preserve heritage. The initiative includes a new Mandoli Gas Insulated Switchgear Indoor Grid and four utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems to modernize the power network and support growing demand from electric vehicle adoption. Officials highlighted benefits for lakhs of consumers and the revival of the historic Town Hall building.
