Telangana HC Allows Surrogacy for Woman with Rare Chromosomal Condition

The Telangana High Court overturned the State government's rejection of a 32-year-old woman’s surrogacy request due to her rare chromosomal condition, complete androgen insensitivity syndrome (CAIS). Despite having male (46, XY) chromosomes, the woman is physically female but lacks reproductive organs, making natural conception impossible. The court ruled that the Surrogacy (Regulation) Act, 2021, supports women with such conditions to pursue parenthood through surrogacy, instructing authorities to issue the necessary certificates for the procedure.
