BMC Engages IIT Bombay to Review Bhandup Railway Overbridge Design, Targets 2027 Completion

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is consulting experts from IIT Bombay to verify the sharp-curve design of a 530-metre railway overbridge in Bhandup, Mumbai. Construction began in 2024 and is 30% complete, with a targeted opening by January 31, 2027. Additional Commissioner Abhijit Bangar has ordered a traffic simulation study and directed pipeline relocation and land acquisition to ensure timely completion. The bridge aims to connect Bhandup East and West, easing congestion and reducing travel time.
