West Bengal Government Announces 20% DA Hike and Major Budget Allocations for 2026
West Bengal's BJP-led government announced a 20% hike in dearness allowance (DA) for state government employees and pensioners, raising the total DA to 38%, effective October 1, 2026. The state budget also includes a Rs 36,000 crore allocation for the Annapurna Yojna, a Rs 2,000 monthly pay raise for civic police, and plans to fill 1 lakh government vacancies, including 50,000 teacher posts. Existing social welfare schemes will continue under the new administration.
