The UK has implemented a fully digital travel system effective February 25, 2026, requiring most visitors from 85 visa-exempt countries to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before boarding transport to the UK. Indian travellers, classified as visa nationals, must continue to apply for mandatory eVisas linked digitally to their passports. The ETA permits multiple short-term visits but does not guarantee entry, which remains subject to border control. British and Irish citizens, including dual nationals, are exempt from the ETA requirement.
