Delhi Government Plans Renaming and Revamp of Shahjahanabad Redevelopment Corporation

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced plans to rename and revamp the Shahjahanabad Redevelopment Corporation (SRDC) to accelerate heritage-focused redevelopment in Old Delhi. The government highlighted alleged irregularities and corruption during the previous administration's tenure, with project costs rising significantly. The SRDC board will propose three new names, and redevelopment efforts include the Chandni Chowk area, pedestrianisation, infrastructure improvements, and plans to move overhead electricity wires underground to preserve the area's historic character.
