Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has directed the formation of a new committee to re-examine an altercation between a doctor and a patient at IGMC, Shimla. This follows a strike by resident doctors demanding the revocation of the doctor's termination. Sukhu assured doctors of enhanced security but stressed that inappropriate behavior with patients would not be tolerated. The government is also considering mandatory human behavior courses for doctors and incentives to attract specialists, while filling vacant medical posts.
