The Union Cabinet has approved Phase V(A) of the Delhi Metro expansion, greenlighting three new corridors totaling 16 km with 13 stations at an estimated cost of Rs 12,015 crore. These corridors will enhance connectivity to the Central Vista, IGI Airport Terminal 1, and connect Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj. The expansion aims to reduce traffic congestion, cut carbon emissions by an estimated 33,000 tonnes annually, and boost urban mobility, extending the network beyond 400 km. The project is expected to be completed within three years.
