The Election Commission of India has introduced 30 new measures to enhance transparency, accessibility, and efficiency for the upcoming 2026 assembly elections in Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal. Key initiatives include mandatory mobile phone deposits outside polling booths, EVMs displaying candidate photos, capped voter numbers per station, and candidate booths set beyond 100 meters. Accessibility improvements feature ground-floor polling stations, ramps, priority queues for senior citizens and PwDs, home voting options, and 100% webcasting for real-time monitoring. The ECINET app integrates multiple services to streamline voter and official access.
