Maharashtra's transport department is establishing Automated Fitness Testing Centres (ATCs) across the state, including three in Pune, to enhance road safety and transparency. These centers will use automated machinery for vehicle inspections, eliminating human discretion and delays in issuing fitness certificates for commercial vehicles. The initiative aims to modernize the certification system and ensure only mechanically sound vehicles operate, with facilities expected to be operational in the new year.
