West Bengal Poll Officials Assaulted in Odisha After Entering Village by Mistake

Two West Bengal poll officials deputed for Special Intensive Revision mistakenly entered a village in Odisha's Balasore district and were assaulted by locals suspecting them of child abductors. The officials had difficulty finding transportation and were detained amid rumors. Police intervened but faced resistance, detaining two officers as well. Authorities arrested 72 people, including women, and registered cases while the officials received medical treatment and were discharged the same day.
