PM Modi Inaugurates Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat RRTS and Meerut Metro; New Corridors Planned

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 82-km Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) and the Meerut Metro, significantly reducing travel time between the two cities to about 50-55 minutes. The high-speed trains operate up to 180 km/h, with frequent services and integrated infrastructure allowing seamless connectivity within Meerut and to Delhi. The projects aim to enhance regional mobility, economic opportunities, and urban development. Opposition voices raised concerns about fare affordability and accessibility. Plans for new corridors from Delhi to Alwar and Karnal are underway, expanding the rapid transit network further.
