A study by the Sabar Institute analyzing electoral roll revisions in West Bengal indicates the Matua community, a vulnerable social group, is among the most affected by voter deletions. In 15 Matua-dominated constituencies, significant numbers of voters were marked as permanently shifted or untraceable. This contrasts with a political narrative suggesting electoral rolls are being inflated with foreign names, highlighting a different reality for the community.
