Haryana Labour Minister Anil Vij has alleged a scam involving nearly Rs 1,500 crore in the issuance of work slips and worker registrations at the Haryana Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board. Preliminary investigations in several districts revealed that a significant majority of the approximately six lakh work slips and over two lakh labour registrations issued between August 2023 and March 2025 were found to be invalid or ineligible. Vij has recommended a high-level probe by a reputed investigation agency to address these alleged irregularities, which he claims allowed ineligible individuals to fraudulently avail benefits.
