Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, while inaugurating the Gujarat High Court Arbitration Centre, acknowledged significant maturation in India's arbitration framework, citing legislative reforms that promote minimal judicial intervention, time-bound proceedings, and neutrality. However, he highlighted ongoing challenges such as limited institutional arbitration usage, preference for foreign arbitration venues, and the need to build trust, capacity, and trained professionals. Gujarat's Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel emphasized the growing importance of institutional arbitration in the state's industrial and technological context.
