A Bengali-speaking migrant worker from Murshidabad, India, was allegedly assaulted in Silchar, Assam, after being accused of being a Bangladeshi intruder. The victim, who has resided in Assam for ten years, presented identification, but his attackers reportedly dismissed it as forged. Trinamool Congress has condemned the incident, alleging that migrant workers from Bengal are subjected to harassment in BJP-ruled states, with a party member suggesting Bajrang Dal supporters were involved. The victim and nine others from his village have decided to leave Assam.
