Bombay High Court Directs BMC and State to Strengthen Pollution Controls at Kanjurmarg Dumping Ground

The Bombay High Court has urged the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the Maharashtra state government to take urgent, committed action to address pollution and foul odour at the Kanjurmarg dumping ground. The court directed the formation of a dedicated technical cell to monitor waste management and ordered immediate implementation of expert-recommended short-term measures. It also announced plans for a surprise site visit to assess progress, emphasizing residents' right to a pollution-free environment and suggesting study visits to advanced waste management systems abroad.
