
India has designated Bangladesh as a 'non-family' posting for its diplomats, advising the withdrawal of their families and dependents due to rising security concerns ahead of the February 12 parliamentary elections. Despite this precautionary measure, all five Indian diplomatic missions in Dhaka, Chattogram, Khulna, Rajshahi, and Sylhet remain fully operational. The decision follows increased extremist activities, protests targeting Indian missions, and a deteriorating law and order situation, amid strained bilateral relations since the 2024 political changes in Bangladesh.
