Odisha authorities have initiated preparations for the upcoming Puri Rath Yatra festival seven months ahead of schedule, a departure from the usual four-month lead time. This early start follows last year's festival, which was marred by a stampede resulting in three deaths and delays in chariot pulling, causing public outcry. Chief Secretary Anu Garg emphasized learning from past lapses and implementing corrective measures, focusing on enhanced crowd management, sanitation, security, and infrastructure to ensure a flawless event on July 16.
